Delfinbeobachtung Gran Canaria - Regeln

When watching dolphins in Gran Canaria, you should consider the following points to protect the animals and their environment and have an unforgettable experience:

Before the tour:
Choose a responsible supplier: Look for companies that adhere to marine animal welfare guidelines. Legal suppliers are certified.
Find out about the tour: Ask about the duration, the size of the boat, and the rules of conduct on board. Smaller groups and catamarans are often considered more environmentally friendly.
Sighting Guarantee: Be aware that a 100% sighting guarantee is rarely reliable, as these are wild animals.
Clothing and sun protection: Wear comfortable clothing that can get wet, and remember sunscreen, sunglasses, and perhaps a hat. A windbreaker or sweater can also be useful, as it can be cooler at sea.
During the tour:
Keep your distance: Boats should maintain a minimum distance from the dolphins (usually at least 60-100 meters).
Boat behavior: Ensure the boat travels slowly and without abrupt changes in speed or direction. An angle of approximately 30 degrees when approaching is ideal.
Observation time: The observation time should be limited so as not to disturb the animals unnecessarily (often a maximum of 30 minutes).
Avoid noise: Avoid making loud noises on board and avoid knocking on the side of the boat. Sonar and other noise sources should be turned off near the animals.
Do not feed or touch: It is strictly forbidden to feed or touch the dolphins.
Do not circle or block the path: Boats must not circle the dolphin groups or cross their swimming direction.
Do not separate groups: Do not try to isolate individual dolphins from their group, especially mothers with their young.
No flash: Do not use a flash when taking photos, as this can disturb the dolphins’ sensitive eyes.
Avoid littering: Do not throw litter into the sea.
Additional tips:
Binoculars: Binoculars can be helpful for observing the dolphins from a safe distance.
Seasickness: If you are prone to seasickness, take appropriate medication in good time.
Enjoy the experience: Be patient and enjoy the opportunity to observe these fascinating animals in their natural environment.
By following these instructions, you will help ensure that dolphin watching in Gran Canaria remains sustainable and respectful of the animals and their environment.
